Peer Pressure

I thought after I got out of high school that the level of high level of peer pressure would end. For awhile it had, then social media arrived. In order to have a successful business you must tweet, blog, Facebook & Instagram. Be sure to keep your social life separated from your business. This creates confusion for me as isn’t that the reason it is called social media?

I digress, the reason for this post is to talk about peer pressure, currently on all social media I am being pressured to like pages & people I know nothing about, invited to play app games, dump ice water on my head or join in someone’s rantings about political or religious views. What I would like to know is when did this all become acceptable behavior?
Growing up I was told never to talk to strangers & certainly not join a group without adequate information, never do what everyone else is doing i.e. Jumping off cliffs, only play games that others may join in, in person, lastly religious & political views are private; never share unless asked even than only share with those of similar beliefs.
Am I the only one feeling the pressure?
